Take your time, listen and ask

In less than 2 minutes William Ury gives the basics to handle conflict and negotiation. First is to pay attention to the person and his/her concerns, use your empathy and, differentiating the problem from the person, you can stay strong regarding the problem being smart and soft with the person. To do that you need to understand, so listen to is not enough you must also show a real interest to your opponent, ask him questions to understand his/her interests and personality. Knowing this, you can go beyond the positions and negotiate on common interests:, so take few minutes to understand why you must listen to and ask: https://youtu.be/d87N5Rk9h0c
